ReelMap vs VidTrip: Which One Fits the Video You Saved?

ReelMap maps places from TikToks, Reels and YouTube videos up to 3 minutes. VidTrip turns YouTube guides into day plans. An honest comparison.

We make ReelMap. Competitor details checked Nov 4, 2026, and we link every claim below. VidTrip didn't review this page and it isn't a paid placement. If something has changed, tell us and we'll fix it.

Quick answer

Pick ReelMap if your places are in TikToks, Instagram Reels, or YouTube videos up to 3 minutes, including Shorts, and you want them pinned on Google Maps. Pick VidTrip if you have a long YouTube travel guide and want a day-by-day itinerary. They solve different jobs, and some travelers will use both.

Which videos each one takes

Paste a TikTok, an Instagram Reel, or a YouTube video up to 3 minutes (incl. Shorts) on reelmap.io. A longer YouTube video is rejected before analysis.

VidTrip takes YouTube links, including youtu.be and Shorts links, and its site says TikTok and Instagram are not supported yet. It is built for YouTube travel guides and vlogs. Its FAQ says a longer guide gives a better plan than a one-minute Short. The site does not state a maximum length, so this page does not invent one.

VidTrip handles long YouTube guides. ReelMap handles TikTok, Reels, and YouTube videos up to 3 minutes (incl. Shorts). Both run in a browser. The free no-app guide covers ReelMap with no install. VidTrip's homepage describes plans you open in the browser.

How each one reads a video

ReelMap uses spoken names, on-screen text, and visual context, then matches each place to Google Maps. A silent TikTok that only shows a shop sign can still produce a pin. A clip that never shows or says a place may come back with fewer pins, or with none. We do not publish an accuracy rate.

VidTrip's about page says it reads the title, description, and captions, then a language model writes the plan and the stops are looked up on Google Maps. A video with no captions and only a short description can't be planned, and VidTrip's refunds page says that charge is returned automatically. A narrated vlog with captions is the video that path is built for.

The same about page says you answer four questions first: how long you are going, who is going, budget and pace, and interests.

What you get at the end

ReelMap puts the places on an interactive map, with a rating and review count when Google Maps has them, a Google Maps link for directions, and an AI summary. On the free result, sign in to download the CSV or the Google Maps KML file for Google My Maps. A public shared map offers those downloads without signing in. Saving Reel places shows that export.

VidTrip's site describes a day-by-day plan with times, rough costs, what to skip, and a timestamp for each stop. Each stop has a Google Maps link and an Apple Maps link, and you can download PDF, KML, or GPX.

ReelMap does not write that day plan. To turn a map into days yourself, use plan a trip from Instagram Reels. For one unnamed TikTok, see find the place when the caption says nothing.

Price and free options

ReelMap's first analysis is free with no account. Google sign-up includes 5 free credits. Later analyses are from $4.99 (see /packages). No subscription, PayPal checkout, and credits do not expire. The free result is spelled out separately.

VidTrip's homepage has no free plan. A plan is $4.99, paid once before it is built, with no subscription. Four example plans can be opened without paying.

Accounts and privacy

ReelMap does not ask for an account on the first analysis. An account is how you save maps and come back to them. The homepage FAQ states that.

VidTrip's FAQ says there are no accounts. Plans are saved in the browser.

When to pick each

Pick ReelMap when:

  • The places are in TikToks or Instagram Reels.
  • The YouTube video is 3 minutes or shorter, including a Short.
  • You want pins, Google Maps links, a CSV, and a KML file, not a written day plan.

Pick VidTrip when:

  • You have a long YouTube travel guide or vlog with captions.
  • You want that video turned into days, with times, rough costs, and a timestamp for each stop.
  • You want a PDF, KML, or GPX download, and Apple Maps links on the stops.

Use both when the trip is a mix. Map the TikToks and Reels with ReelMap, and build the day plan from a long YouTube guide in VidTrip. Turn a TikTok into a Google Maps list is the ReelMap side of that workflow.
